Doncaster PCT Awards 2009

Doncaster dentists were part of this years NHS award winners. The dental Quality and outcomes Framework (QoF) was awarded first prize by NHS Doncasters professional executive committe at this years award ceremony. The QoF is encouraging practices to implement a range of initiatives that improve the quality of service and experience for patients. The framework has been developed in partnership with NHD Doncaster (formerly Doncaster PCT) and local clinicians from the LDC.

We also received a third place position for the work that has been done to commission additional services and provide access for thousands of local residents to access dental services easier and quicker. this has involoved a range of initiatives that has led to 10 extra dentists being employed in the area and waiting times fro orthodontic treatment and oral surgery have been drastically reduced.

Doncaster LDC is an independent body paid for by GDPs themselves via a voluntary Levy based on a specified amount per practitioner, per annum. Expenditure of this Levy is restricted to administration of the Committee and may not be used for anything else.

The main function of the Doncaster LDC is to represent and support General Dental Practitioners (GDPs); to ensure that GDPs are properly valued, and their skills properly utilised; that, whilst serving the public, they are able to uphold appropriate standards of practice.
